INTRODUCTION TO QUANTITATIVE METHODS FOR SOCIAL SCIENCES
Would you like to learn the mathematical foundations of quantitative methods for social sciences? The course is an introduction to the concepts, notation, and underlying logic of some of the fundamental techniques of quantitative analysis used in the social sciences (mainly economics, sociology, and political science).
Participants will learn the essential tools to describe a sample from the distribution of the features being measured (variables), quantify the association between variables, and to understand the kind of assessments we can make about the populations of interest given our findings in the sample (that is, inference). A session on regression analysis will stress its relation with more advanced techniques
Since the course intends to be an introduction, no prior knowledge of the subject is required
