Introduction to R

R is an open source programming language and a software environment for statistical computing and graphics. This language is widely used in social sciences and its popularity has increased significantly in recent years. This introductory course will provide the elements to understand the programming language of R and its use in data analysis. Likewise, the participants will be taught how to install and configure the necessary software for statistical analysis and graphics generation. This course is suitable for people with little or non experience with R, but basic knowledge of statistical concepts is desirable

Introduction to Stata

Stata is an important statistical package that provides many facilities for data management. In addition, it is quick and easy to learn and has become one of the most reliable statistical software used by researchers in different areas. This course offers an introduction to the functions of this package, which includes the entry and manipulation of data, do-files and basic concepts of statistical analysis and graphics. This course is aimed for people who have little or non experience with Stata, but basic knowledge of statistical concepts is desirable.

Introduction to data visualization with R

Introduction to Data management/Social media analysis

Social media data has become a powerful source of information. In this course we will review a body of resources, methods and practical tools for social network analysis with R. Through the course we will use a number of R packages created specially for this purpose, such as Rfacebook, TwitteR and Social Media Lab, among others. The course is aimed at people who have knowledge about R programming language, although it is not a necessary requirement since, in the first part of this course, the basic elements for the understanding of this language will be provided.
